The Art of Ryuusuke Mita

Dragon Half

Character Guide Volume 7

Characters listed in order of appearance.
(PC == Prime Characteristics.)

Titan turns out to be an innocent dragon trapped in a magical body created by Azatodeth. Once freed from the body, he begs Saucer to not kill him. Sonic confirms the story. Titan and Saucer nearly killed each other in their fight, though, and Sonic had to heal both of them. Saucer decides that Mink is innocent as well, and when he next meets her, he tells Mink that he loves her.

Unfortunately, although Mink managed to capture the Demon King with the spell the Sea Queen taught her, Titan's body has grabbed both the bottle and Mink's mother. Turns out that Mink's parents are also on the island. Rouce rescues his wife, and some photos of naked women that he'd bought from Sonic. Saucer carves up Titan's body. The body's last big effort is to break the bottle holding Azatodeth. Mink has no choice but to turn off the Dragon Timer one last time, and let it go from 995 to 999. She undergoes a horrible transformation that promises to turn her into a monster that Saucer won't want to marry.

But, the transformation in reality...

just leaves a strange mark on her butt. She is SUPER stong now, and easily kills the Demon King once and for all, by lopping off his head with the Azatodeth-killing sword.

Two years of peace pass. It's the wedding of Mink and Dick Saucer. Everyone shows up, except Rufa.

Mink and Saucer
Now husband and wife.

Vena and Mig
Still hanging out together, but it's purely platonic. Mig finally discovers that Vena is a slime-half. Vena still has designs to win Saucer from Mink.

Pia
In two years, Pia went from being a young boy, to a REALLY sexy-looking 16-year-old girl. A dramatic change that completely floors Rufa.

Rufa leaps out of the wedding cake, to say that a demon god has appeared in the country of Vido, with lots of monsters. Everyone decides to join in to help Mink take on the new threat. They run out to start a new adventure, and Dama Ramu appears with his new "bomb body." A little bomb cloud can be seen in the distance as Dama Ramu trips and falls. ALL of the heroes, and their friends embark on their next big adventure.

==================*******************===========================

Thus ends the story of Mink, and her quest for the Vido Potion, and for Dick Saucer's love. And the besting of the Great Demon King Azatodeth.

However, there were only 5 chapters left to finish the story in Volume 7, leaving lots of empty space for Mita to fill. The filler consists of a side story, some comments from various sources, and some pencil sketches. I will only summarize the side story.

DRAGON HALF Z

(Mita is making a joke based on the trend for TV series like Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon to use letters in the name of the show to mark a change in direction in the series. He states that he is skipping over "R and SS", to get to Z.)

8 years have passed since Mink's marriage, and she and Saucer now have a girl named Pink (looks somewhat like Mink, including the tail, but wears very frilly cutesy clothing.) Rufa and some guy have had a daughter named Rucha. Pia and some guy have had a daughter named Pio. Mappy has had at least one baby, which remains unnamed.

Pink is arguing with her father over whether she can run the risks that lay in wait between her and Pio. Pink has been given a strange flower, and she wants to show it to her friend. Saucer won't let her. When Mink comes into the room, we discover that Saucer and Mink have not changed at all in 8 years, and they still act like children themselves. Mink tries to reason with her daughter, but can not control her strength and she hurts Pink. Pink, angry, runs away. Two hours later, Pink meets up with Pio (no sign that there were any dangers along the way.) Rucha is also with Pio.

Pio is impressed with the pretty flower, but Rucha recognizes it as the "Golden Rose." She makes Pink and Pio call her "Rucha-sama" before she will explain that the Golden Rose is capable of giving a person "great arrogance" (ie. - strength of character.) and that it only grows once in 100 years. (Note that Rucha is just as pushy and incompetent as her mother, and Pio is just as spineless as Pia.) Pio exclaims that the Golden Rose can help prevent her fainting spells, and Rucha blows up a paper bag to show how easily frightened Pio is (Pio passes out and hits her head on the ground.)

When Pink hesitates, wanting to keep the Rose simply because it is pretty, Pio claims that it's ok, she doesn't need the Rose, and runs away in tears. Rucha berates Pink for being petty, and walks away. Pink imagines that her mother would say the same thing, and is just about to brush off Mink's imagined comments when a tall hooded figure comes up to her.

At the Saucer home, Mink is deriding herself for not knowing how to raise a child. Dick cheers her up by saying that she did good by handing over the Rose, (Mink wanted to keep the Rose also simply because it is pretty) and that both of them behaved the same way towards their own parents. Therefore, no problem. To further cheer themselves up, Saucer starts singing "She's strong! She's Red! Red Dragon!" Mink happily applauds her husband.

Meanwhile, Pink is trying to evade the hooded figure, and fails. She wakes up in the ruins in the Great Demon King's castle. Rucha is there, and she explains that they've gone 10 years back in time to when Mink fought Azatodeth. Pink and Rucha watch as Mink agonizes over whether to use the Vido Potion for herself so that she can marry Dick Saucer, or if she should give the Potion to Rufa so that her friend can be restored from frog form back to being an elf. Eventually, Pink is brought back to the present time, and when the hooded figure tells her to run away, Pink happily does so. Pio is floored at receiving the Golden Rose, and she and Pink celebrate.

Back at home, Pink decides to eat the cooked peppers that she'd turned down before (which are in fact her favorite food), and she asks Mink how her parents had met. After some stunned reluctance, Mink and Saucer gladly talk about family history as their family comes together once more.

On the final page, the hooded figure removes the hood, to reveal -- Rufa. Rufa cackles on about finally being able to pay back Mink for her good deed so long ago. She continues cackling about how great a magic user she is. Meanwhile, stuck 10 years back in time, in the castle, Rucha complains that her stupid mother seems to have forgotten about her.

The end.
