Chapter 9

Houichi’s grandfather continues to try to persuade him to shoot, saying that while there may be minor causalities, the guaranteed slaughter by the Riofaldans will be much greater. As he does, Housuke plays with one android’s hair, making her neighbor jealous. Houichi gives in and tells Minagata to target the robot at the elevator base. She replies that their bullet is really a guided missile, shot from a non-rifled barrel and all they have to go is turn ESE to be in the right general direction. The chest hatch opens up, and the surrounding Riofaldan tank gunners take aim on it. In the air, floating sensors radio the news back to the E-base, where the floor manager asks if they are being targeted. One of the female operators acknowledges that possibility, but based on what they know of Human technology, Sorosaremu should be safe from the smaller enemy ‘bot. The manager wants to notify Sheska; the girl already has but hasn’t received a reply.

(Note: The name of the command center seems to be "Oebis".)

Meanwhile, Exaxxion is "all systems green." Houichi squeezes the trigger. The resulting explosion surprises the boy, and pleases his grandfather. The shockwave knocks out the helicopters and ground troops. The ejected casing makes a deep crater in the reinforced wall behind the ‘bot. The Riofaldans in the command center can’t believe that the Earthlings have the technology for a guided missile of this type, and they keep trying to contact Sheska. The invasion force leader is in his room, talking to Captain Purubi Partizu, asking to have Gustav reassigned from America to Japan. There’s some additional "material" coming in from the home planet; Sheska asks to be notified when it’s ready. Outside his room, Fiottsu is trying to ask Sheska to go to the control room, via the intercom. The door opens, surprising her. Sheska already knows what’s happening and he tells Fiottsu that Inkamu is in charge while he’s busy on other business. Sheska wants 100 people to be rounded up to be made into examples for what happened at Howa H.S.

At Howa High School, someone has noticed that Akane is missing. She’s busy racing her bike back to Houichi’s home. His mother is surprised to see the girl in such a strange outfit. Akane comments that it’s Gan-chan’s coat, and asks where he is. Reiko hasn’t seen him, and Akane thinks that maybe he’s taken the air bike to Hawaii. She races to the TV, and tries to place a call to the E-base, only to be told that her wireless is still being blocked. Reiko asks why she is not at school. Before she can answer, as the TV reporter points out the alien robot and tells us that it’s name is Sorosaremu, something hits it and Sorosaremu blows up. Reiko asks if Akane wants some hot cocoa.

The school principle is told that there’s a news announcement on TV, and it’s shown on a projector screen. A human reporter is trying to raise Koba, a reporter at the E-base. When the smoke clears, a person on fire is seen screaming for help. Nearby are bodies of people killed by the plasma from the exploding robot. Houichi is horrified, and demands to know if this is what being a hero means – killing innocents. His grandfather replies that this is part of what’s needed if they are to win. Houichi demands to be released from Exaxxion immediately. Minagata switches to bike mode and they fly out.

Chapter 10

Houichi sees himself as being as much of a butcher as the enemy. They fly back to the school. In the control room, the Riofaldans try to understand what it means – that the pilot has abandoned the robot. They also count the number of causalities at the base of Exaxxion. Sheska arrives, and states that he wants a search of the robot and the neighboring lift, while the wounded are being cared for. In the Exaxxion bunker, one of the androids asks if Houichi will be ok. Housuke is convinced of it, and tells the women to break out the Dom Perignon for the celebration in the hot tub. One of the women squeals out that Housuke is a dirty old man.

On the roof of the school, Houichi throws away the gunner suit glove, saying that it can be returned back to his grandfather – he wants no part of it anymore. In his classroom, he tells a friend that he’d just stepped out for a while. The classmate tells him that the alien police have arrived, accompanied by a monster wearing a trenchcoat and carrying a black ball robot in a sling backpack. The police are examining the grounds, uncovering two 50 cal. casings. From the damage done to the other robots, they’d expected something more powerful. The cops ask Baruchard, the 12’ tall, streamlined robot wearing the coat, for its opinion. It answers that the casings are the ones used on Black Ball Damudamu #105. A Human couldn’t have handled such a weapon though, because what’s necessary to take out #105 would have to be at least 10 times more powerful than a 50 cal. The cops guess that the guy in the black suit may be an android or cyborg.

Houichi and the classmate comment on the size of the robot, and the fact that it is carrying a Black Ball. Houichi asks where Kinbar Sensei is, and the classmate answers that he hasn’t seen her since the auditorium announcement. Baruchard is told to interrogate all of the humans in the school, while the Faldian cops question the alien teachers themselves. The Black Ball is released, and it tells the students to form into lines. The cops tell the humans to empty their pockets into the nearby trays – everything: wallets, cell phones, change, pens, etc.

At the head of the line, one girl is told to look into a viewer, which will map her retinas and take DNA samples. She refuses to step on the footmarks, and an alien cop forces her head down. She screams and the boy behind her yells at the cop to stop this. Houichi’s classmates are still in their homeroom. They notice that the 2nd year students have been lined up outside. Since they are only 1st year students, they have to go last in this search for the black-suited guy. Houichi is worried. One of his friends asks if he has felt up the big-breasted girl yet. Minagata smiles at them from across the room, which gets the other guys to talk about Houichi and her being lovers. Houichi worries that Minagata is going to be identified as an android, or at least be caught holding the gunner suit glove.

The sound of gunfire catches everyone’s attention. The 2nd year student that was protesting the treatment of the girl at the head of the line has just been killed. The students protest this and try to get the nearby human cops to come save them. The human cops don’t dare move from their patrol car. The alien squad leader tells the monkeys to shut up – anyone talking unnecessarily will be shot. The squad leader adds that they are all expendable prisoners now. However, if the humans cooperate, they will be treated fairly, because the Faldians really are peace loving. Minagata holds up the glove, but Houichi refuses to accept it.

The Faldian ground troops waste ammo on the Exaxxion robot, and are annoyed that it’s unscratched. They try to guess how the robot is controlled – self-governing, remote control, etc. Because of all the radiation from the electronic counter measures they’re using, they conclude that it is run by a single pilot. But, they do decide to ice down the antenna fins just in case it’ll have some effect. Sheska has returned to the control room and he tells everyone that he has contacted the home planet to get assistance – they’re going to try a new approach.

In the hot tub, the girls are all stripped down. They toast the victories of Housuke and Houichi. One girl pours sake into the cup of her breasts and asks the old man to drink it. He’s drunk, and wants the sake to be lower on her body. Another girl asks if Houichi will be ok without the glove. He answers that Minagata has taken care of that.

It’s now the 1st year students’ turn to get in line. Minagata takes the chance to hug Houichi. The other students are thrilled by this. The android whispers into his ear about the glove. He still refuses it, and asks her if she’ll pass the inspection. She expects to be fine, and adds that Akane has gotten to safety. He thanks the android, and they part. Baruchard tells Houichi to take out his ID and all other items, and to stand on the marks before the scanner. He discovers that his ID is missing, and gets yelled at to hurry up.

Chapter 11

The female Faldian running the scanner doesn’t care if Houichi has his ID or not, she just wants to do the check on him. He looks in the scanner, then is told to go to the right and get on the white bus. Houichi wonders what it is that they are checking for, as the next student in line moves up. Minagata passes the check and gets to stay at the school.

Reiko, Houichi’s mother, and Akane are sitting down to eat cheesecake. Reiko is trying her best to reassure the girl. Then, on the TV news, the "black suited guy" is shown healing people in the city. Various witnesses are interviewed, and they talk about the guy’s miraculous micromachines, and how he defeated the black ball robots. Reiko thinks that he is cool. The news anchor sums up the black suited guy’s other exploits, and adds that people are calling him "The Black Angel", "Air Rider", and "Cannon Man". There’s also a fan club starting up. The reporters are trying to get his real name and identity, and there’s all kinds of speculation whether he’s a cop, a renegade Faldian, or otherwise not-Human.

An incoming message disturbs Reiko’s household – the school is trying to track down Akane Hino. The girl embarassedly starts to tell the truth. At the school, the white bus is full, and the doors shut before Houichi can board it. It drives off a little ways. Two of the Faldians running the scanner line discuss the situation. They got 37 victims already, and orders to build up the body count, to force the black suit out into the open. But, there’s a chance that someone will see the bodies before they’re through. The bus pulls behind an armored vehicle, and the driver releases sleeping gas into the passenger section. The sound of the high voltage electricity used to kill the passengers catches Houichi’s ear, and he runs to the bus, dodging gun fire from the guards. Baruchard asks if Houichi should be punished for this, and is told "of course!" The remaining students see the running boy and shout for him to successfully escape.

Houichi reaches the bus, only to discover a pile of scorched bodies lying on the ground, dumped from the bus. He screams, then Baruchard hits him in the back, stopping his heart. The Exaxxion support group detects this, and prepares for the next step. From the school, people can barely make out the bodies on the ground.

In a Faldian facility, Kinbar is coming out of a trance. She’s told by her interrogator (a woman with a dolphin-fin hairstyle) that she’s given them the name of the girl that knows who the black angel is – Akane Hino. Kinbar pleads for her people to stop harassing the humans, but Zarueru happily shows footage of the 37 – no, make that 38 – humans that have already been executed. But, it’s ok. With the 70+ billion humans on the planet, and a large fraction marked for death, these 38 won’t be missed. Houichi’s still form is shown at the top of the pile. Kinbar cries uncontrollably, whispering Akane’s and Houichi’s names. Kinbar is also told that her interrogation is over and she can go back now.

Fiottsu is in the morgue with the doctor. Shishia could have been saved if she’d been operated on 5 minutes earlier. Fiottsu asks if General Sheska had come by to pay his respects – he hadn’t. She has 30 minutes to say goodbye to her friend, before the body is processed. She kisses the cold, dead lips, saying "Shishia Senpai".

It’s night, and Reiko worries about her son while Akane sleeps on the couch. Houichi wakes up, his body in great pain. He’s not wearing the gunner suit, so he wonders why he’s still alive. The camera pulls back to show the bodies inside a metal bin. Houichi complains about the smells, realizes that he can’t move, and asks where he is. Outside, workers prepare to activate Compactor #8. The guy in charge talks to the Gustav for a final check. On the Gustav, everything is ready. So, Sheska (in his bed, just finished having sex) tells "Lain" to go for it. High above in space, a ship leaves Bay 1 of the elevator platform, with orders to go to Japan.

Chapter 12

The next morning, Reiko and Akane have breakfast. The big meal is normal for the Kanou family, but Akane is used to only having cold cereal. She thinks about notifying her mother, as they watch more news. Looks like 37 boys from the black angel’s school have been detained. Akane decides to use her connection to the media’s computers, and discovers that Houichi’s name is indeed on the list of 37 students. Reiko wonders why they haven’t been notified yet. She continues on, commenting that if there was a secret police, they’d stop at nothing to capture the black angel. Stunned by the realization, Akane calls her mother. The old woman is angry at having been made to worry so much. Akane is told that the police had come asking for her the night before. Her mother is convinced that she’s sleeping with some boy, and demands to know where she is. Akane reassures her that she’s visiting the Kanou’s. Nearby, two Faldians eavesdrop on the call, and they locate the house in N2 block of Musashino City (located in Tokyo). The order goes out, and from a floating billboard for Nakayoshi (probably the Nakayoshi girls’ manga magazine), a couple dozen spinner robots are released down to the streets below (I call them spinners because they are shaped like tops, with black bands. I haven’t read a name for them yet.) Akane watches this, and Reiko assures her that none of them are in danger, since there’s no way to track them. Akane worries about Gan-chan, but his mother is convinced that her son is ok as the camera does a close-up of his jacket in the closet.

Houichi is resting after bloodying his hands trying to escape the container. He wishes for the glove, and Minagata’s voice comes in over a radio transceiver. He asks where he is, and is told he’s in a processing plant. The compactor machinery activates and he yells for the glove. Turns out that he already has it. Minagata had slipped it on him when they had hugged, and it had hidden itself in his jacket. The jacket turns into the glove. Bodies fall into a chute, and Minagata tells him to hurry up and change.

Baruchard is dispatched to discover why the compactor building’s chopper blades have jammed. Houichi has busted his way out of the thick wall, and gets attacked. Baruchard takes three blasts to the left shoulder and chest, but proceeds to smash the boy into a truck. It rolls over and the backdoor opens. Houichi asks what had happened to his gun, and Minagata replies that his left hand activates the 12-gauge pistol – he’d used the wrong hand. He wishes that he had been told that earlier, as he looks inside the truck to discover an unconscious girl. He grabs her arm to save her, but only pulls up the upper half of her body. The robot kicks the truck out of the way, scattering the pile of dead, dismembered schoolgirls inside it. Houichi goes ballistic, yelling out "gun set", and unleashing the 50 cal. Meanwhile, Akane is playing computer games with a wireless controller on the second floor of the house. A spinner breaks the window and shoots out cables to ensnare her.

Chapter 13

Akane yells for help as the spinner floats away to head for the van holding the two Faldian eavesdroppers. The robot wraps a cable around her mouth to make her stop screaming. The eavesdroppers confirm that they’ve got the right girl, then return to HQ.

Houichi blows Baruchard away, then asks Minagata to come to him to try to save the girl. Then, the Faldian police arrive and shoot at him. Their lasers are easily deflected by the suit’s field, making them wonder if he’s something other than an Earthling. Houichi argues with Minagata to hurry up, then gets hit by a super-charged shotgun blast that vaporizes the half-body in his arms. A second Baruchard has arrived, wielding a 1-gauge shotgun (which uses one pound of gunpowder.) Houichi takes a second blast, and is about to rip this robot apart when Minagata arrives (wearing gun clothes) and stops him. She states that Exaxxion is in danger, and to hurry up and ride her (acting very suggestively.) Baruchard shoots, but misses. High above the buildings, Minagata and Houichi float at the top of the android’s jump. The boy wants to kill Baruchard first, but it’ll have to wait until Exaxxion is safe. She turns into the air bike and they fly off.

Housuke and his androids have turned the control room into a command center. They all wear old-style military uniforms, which one android thinks looks good on the old man. They’re tracking the approach of the ship Gustav, and Houichi’s progress. It looks like a tight finish. Then, the Gustav reaches Exaxxion. The carrier ship inspects the human’s robot, before the crew decides to open container #8. A white giant robot with huge oil drill bits for hands (the cargo that Sheska asked to be sent from the home planet), the Casuuru, smashes to the ground (looks like a variation on Evangelion).

Casuuru, piloted by Major Anvil, moves in, asking for data on the enemy. Anvil is told that it can’t attack without its pilot. And, the antenna have been iced as part of the ECM maneuvers. It looks like a simple job, but because this is a XXX robot, she’s still urged to use caution in case it does something strange. But, Anvil is confident and she swings one of the drill arms at the stationary ‘bot.

Chapter 14

Anvil is stunned to see that her attack hasn’t even scratched the metal. In the command room, the androids report a couple of the systems in the yellow, but Housuke states that Exaxxion can take more damage than that. The shockwave reaches a nearby city and blows out cell phones, computers and signal lights. The military helicopters in the area suddenly discover that they’ve got no air under them, and at least one crashes into the trees. The Gustav operators note that Exaxxion has moved, but it’s only the auto-balancing system kicking in. They speculate with Anvil over what to do next, and the pilot decides to try using both drill arms, to see if the enemy robot reacts or retreats before being overloaded. She moves in, then notices the air bike zooming up. Houichi blows past the drill arms and swings around to enter the back of Exaxxion’s head. Anvil smiles and unleashes a sonic attack, which scrambles Minagata’s programming. The android is thrown for a loop, and turns into a naked girl hugging Houichi, instead of becoming the support chair he’s to sit on. Exaxxion comes to life and melts the ice covering its antenna. Minagata is confused and stutters a lot, until one of the other androids manages to get a signal past the ECM noise, and reprograms her. Minagata still doesn’t know where she is, and the Anvil comes in with a right jab to the head.

Houichi gets angry at this second attempt to kill him, and the two robots engage. He figures that projectiles won’t work against this ‘bot, so he switches to "knuckle mode", and uses his arm to block Anvil. She responds by pushing Exaxxion’s arm up in order to jam her drill into the gap between the bottom of the arm and the body. Anvil is ecstatic, but the Gustav team yells at her about the danger and demands that she disengage. Houichi pulls a strange twisting move, which allows him to come in high and smash the Casuuru in the back of the neck. Anvil can’t believe this. Meanwhile, at the elevator base, someone is radioing to Sheska to say that they know who the black angel is. And, Akane is shown wearing a hospital gown and mind scanner, unconscious.

Chapter 15

Exaxxion’s punch has punctured the back of the Faldian robot. The Gustav radios in that generator 134 is down, and a power cable has been cut. Anvil is trying to figure out what happened. She’s told that the Exaxxion’s special generator is giving it unusual strength, but they can’t locate the thing inside its body. Anvil brings her arm back into line with the exposed body joint, and turns on the cutting laser located inside the bore tip. Houichi decides to use the 460 mm cannon in his right hand, and shoots inside the enemy ‘bot’s body. The Gustav crew panic and activate the anti-grav crane to return the Casuuru to the ship. The woman is still convinced that her laser can take out Exaxxion, and it is doing significant damage. Houichi finds the Casuuru’s main generator and rips it out, killing her laser. Anvil asks to be given a little more time, but the Gustav tries to lift her out. Houichi won’t let them escape, even though the sensors show that his right arm has gone ito the red. He drops the generator and fires the 460 mm at the departing robot. A few rounds hit the Gustav’s open bay. The crew panics and shuts off the lift, and Casuuru falls. There’s an error with the gun, and it won’t stop firing until all of the ammo is used up. The Gustav doesn’t want to hang around, and they fly back up to space.

Houichi wants to eject and fly Minagata after the cowards, but she replies that she can’t go that high. The boy swears, as the shell eject cover opens in his arm, and empty casings rain down on the still enemy ‘bot. He raises his leg and stomps down on its head.

One of the female androids calls out to Housuke – the TV news is showing some doctored footage. Houichi has been identified as the black angel, and there’s "proof" that he’d gunned down a pregnant mother and her young son in cold blood in Tokyo. The victims were supposedly rushed to a Faldian hospital, but the doctors were unable to save them. Housuke had expected something like this to come up, so he has the girls start their "information against information" war. Noriko is sent out to hack one of the computers used at the news station. Housuke kisses her good luck, and one of her friends gets jealous. Two of the others can’t believe how lucky they are to have such a great scientist ordering them around on such cool missions like information wars.

Then, Housuke’s watch beeps. He’s getting an alarm, triggered by the circuitry in his wife’s wedding band. Reiko has also been captured, and has been stripped down to her bra and panties. As soon as Akane gets out of the mind swipe room, it’s Reiko’s turn.

Near a freeway exit, barricaded, a handful of TV trucks are stranded. Road traffic has been blocked off from the robot battle site, and the news choppers have been banned from the area. Suddenly, the reporters learn that a giant robot is headed their way. The drivers can’t believe how fast Exaxxion is approaching them. Houichi hits the bridge – literally – and tears up the freeway, throwing vehicles around like little bugs. The boy wants to reach the elevator base and wipe it out. However, Housuke has not yet been able to locate any of its weaknesses. Houichi would rather just blow it up, until one of the androids tells him that Reiko and Akane are both being held prisoners by the Faldians. He goes ballistic.

Chapter 16

Back at the Faldian robot, Anvil is swearing as she staggers free. At first she’s happy to see the human soldiers approaching her, and orders them to take her to HQ. But, it turns out that these guys have become an underground army, and they take her prisoner. The incredulous pilot argues with them – that they can’t win; they only have one robot; and haven’t they seen the news broadcasts showing the black angel killing the woman and child? The soldiers don’t care about the odds; the Earth ‘bot kicked their ‘bot’s ass; and the news broadcast was obviously faked. Anvil is loaded into a truck, protesting that she’ll never talk. The humans are amused, since HQ has lots of truth drugs to work with. She is told to rest assured, then the truck roars off.

A Faldian news chopper approaches Exaxxion. The crew is nervous about getting too close, but the reporter wants her story. She tells the audience to look at the robot "flying" across the waves with incredible speed (several hundred kpm). She adds that the black suited Houichi Kanou is probably inside, piloting it. Looks like something out of an anime, but this is real-life, folks. The waves battering the coast in its wake are maybe 20 meters tall. The reporter continues with the story that Houichi can’t be human (the technology is too advanced), he’s too murderous to be Faldian, therefore he must be from some other alien race.

Houichi is still trying to grasp that Akane and Reiko have been captured. Their location is being fed to Minagata. Housuke has the android take care of piloting the robot (the lift doors have been closed, and the bodies of the dead enemy are to be disposed of in the trash.)

In the interrogation center, a young female interrogator is getting reamed for not having done a full check on Reiko. The girl thinks that Reiko is harmless, since nothing showed up on the scans. She’s reminded that the woman is the mother of the black angel, and therefore they can’t be too careful. Reiko has been stripped of her wedding band. She looks around in her cell, then sits on the toilet.

Akane is back in her own cell, still suffering from the drugs. She turns off the TV showing Exaxxion approaching Tokyo, to possibly drown the city in a sea of fire. Akane decides to act like a true journalist, and talks to herself as if she had her mike and camera. She describes her cell (small, with a sink, toilet, bed and food hatch in the door.) She then plays herself up as a poor, helpless 1st year high school girl in terrible straits. But she’s not going to give in to fear because she knows that the alien-battling black-suited super hero is going to save her. Just before she says his name aloud, Akane calls herself an idiot and sits on the toilet. In the middle of relieving herself, a thin tube comes up out of the toilet, and under her gown, then stops in front of her face. She screams, but Reiko apologizes for the strange way of contacting her. Reiko let herself get captured and is now on the same floor in a nearby room. She plans on rescuing the girl, and asks Akane to trust in her. Akane is very relieved, but is not sure how they’re going to be saved. During this exchange, we see that Reiko’s hair has morphed into the tube that they are talking through.

In the elevator base, a group of generals discuss the damage to Gustav and Casuuru. They learn that Exaxxion is actually from an old Faldian technology, called XXX. The generals bicker over whether something that old can be dangerous to them, while on the other hand, it did take out Sorosaremu and Casuuru. They get worried, until Sheska states that a couple of friends of the pilot are currently their hostages.

Chapter 17

The generals go through their options, until one general suggests "that". General Baikaru is incredulous, but Sheska confirms that "that" is the hyper gate. But, the gate is heavily guarded and hard to get to, so Baikaru volunteers to command the project to assault the gate. Sheska consents. Then, a General Uberuchi is dispatched to get Zarueru’s captives.

Houichi has picked up several more aircraft as he continues to Tokyo. He ignores them, surprised to learn that his grandfather hadn’t created Exaxxion. Minagata is told to keep the robot on autopilot, as Housuke activates the virtual reality system built into the gunner suit. Houichi now appears to be at an excavation site with his grandfather. The old man changes to a younger, black-haired version of himself – 30 years younger. That is when he found the case for Exaxxion, 100 meters under ground. The case is 200 meters tall, and 100 meters square. It’s Faldian, judging from the writing around the access hatch. But, it’s been buried for 2000 years. Housuke had used all of his money from his patents, and more from various loans, for the excavation. He was surprised to see the same writing when the first contact occurred with Riofald 20 years later.

Houichi doesn’t see how something 2000 years old could beat modern technology. Housuke replies that he has something that the enemy doesn’t. A hologram lights up under their feet. It’s a 1/8th scale model of the XXX unit. He has an anti-matter generator. Then, Ryouko Tanegashima introduces herself, and tells us how the XXX unit is unique with its anti-matter, and that the enemy doesn’t have this technology. Houichi fixates on Ryouko’s big breasts. Housuke had spent 10 years hacking the XXX unit’s software. He also explains on how he chose the name Exaxxion: In the Faldian alphabet, the letter X is our letter Z; he wanted a name that had the three XXX’s in capital letters, with everything else in lowercase; and there’s a Japanese tradition of robot names ending in "on" (Idondaguon, Evangelion, Go-lion, Diabolon, Robocon and Red Baron). Then, when Exaxxion made its appearance, the XXX alert was triggered by the Faldian computers. So now, Housuke laughs, if the true might of the Faldians arrives on Earth, everyone will die. The boy is appalled by this. The old name tells a story about a Yakuza that goes to a peasant’s house to take away the guy’s daughter. The guy refuses to give up the daughter because he knows that she’ll be put in a brothel or something. He resists, even knowing that he doesn’t have the strength to defeat the villain. Housuke vows to protect his property (Earth) and his family (Earthlings), and asks if Houichi can give in to such a Yakuza. Of course, he can’t.

Commander Ryama asks Zarueru if this is all the info on the two prisoners. She says that it is, then is told to prepare them to be moved. She also has to sign off on the papers. Reiko’s monitor tube picks all this up through a ventilator grill. She retracts the tube and radios to the others that she’s going to try to bust out. One of the blond androids protests that Reiko only has a small amount of the M37 micromachine material, and this may not be enough. Reiko pulls at her long hair.

Chapter 18

The majority of her long hair is false, and it turns into a glove on her left hand. Reiko strips her bra and panties off, then asks if "Housuke-sama" can hear her. He can. She tells her glove that Akane is in danger and she needs to save the girl. Housuke gives in, but he wants the sensors activated in the glove so that he can monitor her. She agrees, then activates the gunner suit. Looking like a character from Bubble Gum Crisis, Reiko turns the suit gloves into super hard blades and cuts her way through the door. A guard saw her transform over a monitor camera and he sounds the alert. Two spinners come up, firing lasers at her. The beams are deflected by the suit, and she slices up the "bad" robots. The guard wonders who could be able to do something like this, and notifies two soldiers to use normal guns. The deflector fields in the suit cause the bullets to drop safely in her hands. Reiko flicks the bullets with her thumbs, and kills the soldiers.

Cutting through Akane’s door, Reiko has to pop up her visor to calm the girl down. Asking "shall we escape?", Reiko tries to cut through the floor (Akane asks about the weird suit.) The woman only manages to dull her blades, so she tries to cut through a wall – no luck here either. Dismayed at the damage to her blades, she concludes that this is some kind of "shelter building", and reconciles herself to exiting through the door. In the hallway, the younger interrogator pulls a gun on them, and demands that Reiko surrender immediately, or she’ll shoot. Reiko exudes her fingertips and destroys the gun. Pleading that they don’t kill her, the Faldian collapses to the floor and pisses her pants. Shocked that this has been caught on a security camera, the alien hides her face in shame. Reiko does her a favor and destroys the camera. The girl is surprised by this and tries to say something, but Reiko and Akane just walk off.

Reiko uses her suit to bypass the controls of an elevator, and makes sure that no one else can use it. But, when the doors open, a Baruchard is revealed standing inside. Akane flees as the robot lowers the 1-gauge shotgun and nails Reiko pointblank in the chest.

Still out at sea, Houichi is angry to hear that his mother has been hurt. She’s still alive, but is in a "boxer’s trance". Housuke pleads for his grandson to do something. He tells the boy to use the 460 mm cannon. Houichi warns the old man about not letting Akane or his mother get hit. His grandfather is sure that everything will be ok, and tells his boy to turn a little bit farther. Houichi raises his right arm and preps the gun. Akane is yelling at "Mrs. Reiko", as the woman pants for breath, wide-eyed in shock. The location of the interrogation center is relayed to Exaxxion from the Super GPS (Geo-Positioning System). The gun is ready and Minagata asks Houichi to pull the trigger.
