This is the new manga by Ken'ichi Sonoda (Gun Smith Cats, Riding Bean). The story started with the October '97 issue of Afternoon magazine.

Houichi |
1st year student at Howa high school. He's been out of contact with his father for almost 10 years. Enjoys going against the stronger members of his upper classmates, and kicking the tar out of them. Houichi is the star of the story, and his father asks him to use Exaxxion to "become a hero". Is aided by Isaka Minagata. |

Housuke |
Houichi's grandfather, and a brilliant (if not crazy) scientist. Housuke is a very cold-blooded man, who doesn't mind asking his grandson to kill innocent victims in order to win a war. A major pervert, Housuke was supposedly living at a southern resort, when instead he had been building a huge underground bunker in Japan to host Exaxxion, and a bevy of big-breasted female andriods. Housuke didn't actually create Exaxxion - he just stumbled over it. |

Akane |
Media reporter wanna-be, who runs up against the Kuro Dango. Akane is a long-time friend and classmate of Houichi's. She's smart and very technology oriented, but is also self-conscious about being small-breasted. Her nickname for Houichi is "Gan-chan". She apparently has an older sister that works as a reporter, who is one of the hostages at the elevator base. (Named after a automatic pistol.) |

Reiko |
Houichi's beautiful mother. Originally, she appears to be a simple airheaded housewife. Later, she turns out to be one mean woman with a gun suit. Seems to be Houske's only child. |

Akane's |
We don't know anything about her yet, except that she speaks with a strong accent (probably from Osaka). |

A Human teacher that worked in the same school as Kinbar Sensei. When the invasion first starts, he attacks Kinbar and demands to know what's happening. Gets killed by a Black Ball robot. |

Akane's friend and camera woman. Just shows up long enough to get knocked out by the blast from Mt. Fuji. |
? Hino |
A young female reporter working at the elevator base at the time of the invasion. Hino is obviously related to Akane Hino, but so far there's been no direct connection. Last seen just before Houichi blew up Sorosaremu. |
Riofaldans |

Kinbar |
A teacher at Houichi's school. Other than being a gentle person with a strong attachment to her human students, we don't know much about her. She gets scanned by Sarueru, giving away the fact that Akane knows who the "black suit" is. Full name is Rifuru Kinbar. |

General |
A cold-blooded leader of the Riofaldan invasion of Earth. A strong leader, but little is really known of him so far. Initially, he appears as Ambassador-in-Chief between Riofald and Earth, prior to announcing the invasion on Earth. His full name is Zuburozarofuka Sheska. |

Lieutenant Shishia |
General Sheska's assistant in the command center, during the initial invasion. Gets gunned down by a Human anti-terrorist team, while using herself as a shield to protect Sheska. Note that the command center is called "OEBIS". |

2nd Lieutenant |
One of the Riofaldan women that works the consoles in the control center. Shishia's closest friend, and the only one that seems to mourn her passing. |

Major |
The pilot of the Riofaldan giant robot Casuuru. Anvil is a cocky woman, convinced that Exaxxion will be easy to defeat. Gets captured by Earth's underground troops. Her robot is fitted with drill bores and cutting lasers for hands. Casuuru is an overwise worthless 'bot, with no defensive abilities. |

General Baikaru |
One of the General Counsel, working for Sheska. He volunteers to head the project to build a new hyper gate. |

Inkamu (?) |
(Name not confirmed.) Acts as Sheska's second-in-command in the command center. No outstanding abilities so far. |

Captain |
An incredibly heartless interrogator, tasked to find the identity of the "black suit" guy. Enjoys telling Kinbar Sensei that 38 students at her school have been executed. Later, gets Akane to reveal Houichi's secret. |

Kuro |
"Black Ball". This is a round-bodied robot on 2 long, thin legs, with two long, flat, flexible cutting blades for arms. The Kuro Dango are directed by the Riofaldan military to protect other Riofaldans from being harrassed by the humans. The Black Balls are the land support half of the "flyer/black ball" team. They are identified by number as Damudamu #105, etc. |

Flier |
Kind of shaped like a large boomerang, the flier is the arial half of the Black Ball/Flier team. Its wingspan is at least 40 feet, and the leading edge of the wings is capable of cutting through buildings like butter. |

Sorosaremu |
The first giant robot brought out by the Riofaldans when the elevator base was initially opened. Capable of both laser and hyper-fast projectile attacks, Sorosaremu gets toasted by Exaxxion fairly quickly. (Sheska can be seen in the foreground.) |

Baruchard |
A series of trench-coated white robots. They stand at least 3 meters tall, and are capable of carrying a Black Ball robot in a backpack. Baruchard can perform hand-to-hand combat, but its preferred weapon is a 1 gauge (1 pound of powder) shotgun. |

Gustav |
A spaceship docked at the top of the elevator. It is used to carry Anvil to the Exaxxion site, to allow the pilot to slice Exaxxion open for examination. Has no weapons or defenses of note. |

Hyper |
This is old technology, constructed by the Riofaldans long ago. General Baikaru is put in charge of infiltrating the gate, in order to get the information there that will help them defeat Exaxxion. |

Spinner | An policing robot, capable of exuding cables for the purpose of capturing people. Can hover, and is fitted with laser weapons. Used to abduct Akane from the Kanou household. |

The androids are more or less interchangable. They are Housuke's main assistants, and sex toys. (Not all of their names

Isaka |
Another android. This one has enrolled in Houichi's school in order to be close to the boy when the invasion begins. Like all of the androids, Isaka is made up of nano-tech, which allows her to change her body shape at will. And, like all of the androids, she has big breasts, and something of a "loose" streak (i.e. - she likes sex.) (Named after the Isaka 37 shotgun.) |

Isaka can turn into a sky-bike. In this form, she can fly great distances very fast. Her altitude is limited, though, and she can't carry really heavy weights. |

eXaXXion |
Pronounced "Exaction". Not exactly an invention; Housuke discovered a huge 2000-year-old container buried underground on Earth 30 years earlier - 20 years before the Riofaldans made first contact. The container had Riofaldan writing on it, and held the XXX project. Housuke spent 10 years hacking the XXX software, before creating Exaxxion. Shown here fighting Casuuru. |
| Exaxxion is controlled by a gun grip, and a floor pedal (the
harder you step on the pedal, the faster it walks/runs.) There is a 460 mm cannon in
the right arm, a 88mm gattling gun cannon (actually, 3 6-barrel gattling guns) in the
left, and a guided 4096mm (4 meter) rail gun in its chest.

The |
Houichi was given a glove made up of M37 Material. This is nano-tech, with pre-programmed shapes. It is nearly indestructable, and can protect Houichi from severe stresses. When he extends one hand and says "Gun Set", a pistol will leap into his palm - depending on the hand. The left hand controls a 12 gauge pistol, and the right controls a 50 cal with a rail gun barrel. Further, the suit has healing abilities, and can reconstruct broken bones and punctured organs. |
