The Shenlon summoned by these Balls can only grant one wish. Further, these Balls are so powerful that after being used, they fly apart across the galaxy. If they are not gathered together again within one year, the energy from the appearance of Ultimate Shenlon will cause the Earth to explode. [oa:e40] |
| Poperu | This long-haired kid is a set-up to explain why Pan can never find anyone that wants to go out with her. [oa:e1] |
| The Two Thugs | Unnamed, these two bunglers who are reminiscent of the villains in Home Alone, attempt to kidnap Gokuu. [oa:e2] |
| Gill |
A small robot with a round body, and stick arms and legs. AKA:
DD4649T22006RS. Gill is constantly in need of energy, and will therefore
eat any mechanical objects in reach. It eats the Dragon Radar, and
incorporates the Radar into its own body, allowing it to find the Dragon
Balls. Gill eventually becomes part of Gokuu's team, although it
apparently turns traitor to work for Shogun Rirudo. Gill was one of the
robots created by Dr. Myuu, but eventually becomes loyal to the
Earthlings. Gill gets destroyed by Vejiita-Baby in episode 28, and
recreated by Trunks at the end of episode 40. [fa:e4] Gill's name comes from the high-pitched twittering sound it always makes. |
Don Kiaa |
A noseless dweeb that dresses like a transvestite, has taken over planet
Immega and sucked it dry of all available money. Having no powers of
his own, Don Kiaa instead surrounds himself with nasty, powerful
bodyguards/enforcers. [fa:e3][la:e5] Don Kiaa is a merchant, or "akindo" in Japanese. His name is a scrambling of "akindo". |
| Shiira |
The little red dwarf fighter that works for Don Kiaa. [fa:e4][la:e5] Shiira's name is not explained, but it has something to do with money-grubbing scam-artists. |
| Geeru |
The female minion that works with Shiira (pronounced "Gail") [fa:e4] Geeru's name is not explained, but it has something to do with money-grubbing scam-artists. [la:e5] |
Rejjik |
A kind of "leopard-guy", Rejjik is a semi-honorable warrior who looks
for worthy opponents to test his skills on. Initially works for Don Kiaa,
then quits to go off and hone up on his combat skills. [fa:e4] [ls:e5] Rejjik's name is a scrambling of "Credit". |
Zuunama |
A giant catfish that terrorizes people by causing earthquakes when it
wiggles its whiskers. Zuunama is actually a fraud, who can tell when
an earthquake is going to hit, and then pretends that he's the one
causing it. Zuunama tries to marry Reenu, and instead latches on to
Trunks. [fa:e7] [la:e8] Zuunama is a scrambling of "namazu" (catfish). |
| Reenu | (Sounds more like "Layla".) Daughter of the village elder, and one of the prettiest girls on planet Kurebo. Is to become Zuunama's betrothed. Has a Dragon Ball woven into her ponytail. Gets rescued by Gokuu, Trunks, and Pan. [fa:e7] [la:e8] |
| Doma | Reenu's true betrothed. A strong-bodied warrior, but not in the Z-fighters' class. [fa:e7] [la:e8] |
The Parapara Brothers |
Bonpara: The big husky blue-faced villain. Donpara: The tall thin blue-faced villain. Sunpara: The short chunky blue-faced villain. The Para Brothers have been forced to seek out the Dragon Balls. They steal one from Gokuu and Pan, and take it back to Ruudo Planet. They constantly end their sentences with "para", and are basically big cowards who prey on the weak. Their only skills are: Dance magic, which forces the victim to perform bad disco routines; and telepathy which can only be performed via three-part do-wop singing. [Bonpara first appears at the end of episode 8.] [fa:e9] They were left behind on Planet Ruudo. [ls:e14] The Para Brothers are named after rhthymic musical sounds. |
| Mutchii Motchii |
A very tricky priest, Mutchii Motchii is apparently the head priest of the
Ruudo sect. He wears heavy robes, and looks like a character from Dave
Sim's Cerebus comics. Mutchii Motchii uses a whip to turn people into dolls
and gives the dolls to Ruudo. Killed by Gokuu. [fa:e9] [la:e11] The priest's real name is "Motchii". It is a play on "muchi mochi", or someone that has a whip (muchi). |
| Muchii | The name of the whip that Motchii had been using. Mutchii is really a demon in disguise, and had been the one controlling Motchii. Mutchii has control over earth, and is capable of reforming rocks and dirt into whatever shapes it likes. Destroyed by Trunks. [fa:e11][la:e12] |
Doru-Takkii (Doll-Takkii) |
A Doll Otaku placed in charge of gathering energy for Ruudo, at the
command of Dr. Myuu. Doru-Takkii looks vaguely simian, and is only
interested in playing with his newest toy -- Pan. Doru-Takkii has no
real powers himself; instead, he possesses the flashlight remote control
that can tell Ruudo what to do. [fa:e9] Killed by Shogun Rirudo.
[la:e15] Doru-Takkii is a play on "doll", and the feminine form of "otaku" (fanatic). |
Ruudo |
A giant yellow robot created by Dr. Myuu. Ruudo has been encased in
rock, and worshipped as a god. When sacrifices are turned into dolls
and thrown into Ruudo's urn, they increase Ruudo's power level. But,
the souls of the sacrifices remain intact, and can be returned to their
bodies if Ruudo is destroyed. When Ruudo reaches full power, it turns
from yellow to red. [fa:e9] First activated in episode 12.
Destroyed by Gokuu and Pan. [la:e14] Ruudo is a play on "doll". |
Dr. Myuu |
A scientist that wanted his minions Mutchi Motchi and Doru-Takkii to
gather up the Dragon Balls so that he could rule the universe. He
created Ruudo as his "child", and set Doru-Takkii in charge of gathering
up energy from other people to give Ruudo life. Ruthless, he turns
Doru-Takkii into a doll, in order to up Ruudo's power level in its fight
against Gokuu. With flowing red hair and beard, Myuu looks like a cross
between Dr. Gero and the North Kaiou (of the DBZ series.) Actually, Dr. Myuu's true goal turns out to be the creation of Machine Mutants, in his quest to take over the galaxy. He found the cell sample of Baby floating in space, and is convinced that he's the one that made Baby into a new Machine Mutant. [fa:e13] Killed by Baby in episode 22. Returns to the storyline in episode 42, when he and Dr. Gero team up in Hell. Is killed again in episode 47 by Super #17. "Myuu" is derived from "mutant". |
| Shogun Rirudo |
A big, hulking kind of guy, who turns out to be a "Machine Mutant".
Machine mutant is the name of the robots/androids that Dr. Myuu has
been making for his bid to conquer the galaxy. Rirudo is the effective
leader of Machine Planet M2. [fa:e15] Killed by the combined blasts of
Gokuu, Pan, and Trunks as they leave planet M2. [la:23] Rirudo is a scrambling of "drill". |
| Mega Rirudo | Shogun Rirudo has the ability to incorporate other machinery into its body to undergo a power-up. At this point, Mega Rirudo is a lot like the liquid-metal terminator from the second Terminator movie. [occurs in episode 19.] |
| Energy Cannon-Sigma Aka: EC-4 |
Neeji (wrench) Ribet (rivit) Natto (nut) Biisu (vise) Four stupid-looking robots that have the ability to combine into one big robot called "The Energy Cannon". Like most of the robots on M2, the EC4 have the ability to phaze through walls. [fa:e16] Destroyed along with Mega Rirudo. [la:e19] The names of the EC4 come from names of hardware and tools. |
| Baby |
Initially, Baby seems to be nothing more than a "machine mutant" embryo
-- a kind of infant with red cross-hair eyes, and a teardrop head with
the taper pointing in front of him. Eventually, we are told that Baby is
actually the essence of the Tsufuru King from the planet Plant,
and had been shot into space before Plant had been conquered by King
Vejiita. Plant had been occupied by peaceful scientists that liked
making weapons. The Saiya-jin were invaders that landed on the planet
in their single-person space capsules, and killed all of the
Tsufuru-jin. Plant was then renamed to "Planet Vejiita". (Some of this
was explained in a DBZ TV episode.) Baby has the ability to ooze into
people's bodies and either suck them dry, or plant an egg that allows
him to continue controlling a victim after he has moved onto another
host. Baby wants to kill the Saiya-jin in revenge, and heads towards
Earth. On Earth, Baby gets more energy from his victims, and eventually
becomes strong enough to take over Vejiita. Killed by Super Gokuu 4.
[fa:e21] [la:e39] According to the DBGT Perfect File, it was Baby that created Dr. Myuu, and programmed Myuu to develop Machine Mutant technology in an effort to give Baby a new body. Baby's name is derived from the fact that he first appears in the series as a baby (akan-bo, in Japanese.) |
| Basic Victims |
Alien Boy [fa:e23] [la:e24] Doctor: [fa:e23] [la:e24] Some Woman: [oa:e24] These are all ignorable victims of Baby's, as he makes several more attempts to attack Gokuu and Trunks. The main point here is that Baby can seep into someone's body, either through a cut, or through the ears, and control them completely. |
| Paris-chan | A teenaged redhead girl that Goten asks out on a date. She is very naive, but seems sincerely interested in Goten as a boyfriend. [fa:e25] Last seen when Goten lost the fight against teenaged Baby. Does appear briefly later on, beside Goten again.[ls:e26] |
| Possesed Saiya-jin |
Goten-Baby: [fa:e25] Gohan-Baby: [fa:e26] Vejiita-Baby: [fa:e27] Baby uses the moment when someone is powering up, or preparing Kamehame-ha, to rush forward and enter their body. When he is directly controlling someone, his name is Gohan-Baby (or whatever). When he is not controlling them, he leaves an egg behind. The egg can be hatched whenever it suits Baby. When this happens, the victim is turned into a Tsufuru-jin, and is completely loyal to Baby. |
| Super Vejiita-Baby | In the case of Vejiita, Baby has decided to use Vejiita's great strength in his battle against Gokuu. The resulting transformation is a combination of Vejiita's and Baby's features, to create something that doesn't really look like either of them. And, because of the energy that Baby gained from Goten and Gohan, Vejiita-Baby is nearly indestructable. Vejiita-Baby maintains his married status with Bulma. [fa:e29] [la:e39] |
| New Tsufuru-jin | Baby has taken over all of the Earthlings by episode 28, turning them into Tsufuru-jin (with the exception of Mr. Satan and Majin Buu.) This includes Bulma, Chichi and Videl. Trunks is turned into a Tsufuru-jin in episode 28. |
| Ultimate Shenlon | Shenlon looks about the same as before, but is yellow instead of green. He can only grant one wish. [fa:e30] |
| Suu-guro (AKA: Suguro) | Initially, Suu-guro was a short blue guy trapped in a purgatory parody of the board game known in Japan as "Suguroku". Suguro and his son are big, green, fat "space-tanuki" (shape-changing trickster raccoons.) Gokuu discovers that Suguro cheats (his son is disguised as the dice), and this causes the board game field to self-destruct. Kaiou-bit teleports in and saves Suguro, his son, and Gokuu. In the real world, the space tanuki show their real forms. They spend the rest of their time on Dai Kaiou-shin's planet. [fa:e30] |
| Ultra Majin Uubu | Uubu gets involved in the battle against Vejiita-Baby, and gets defeated. Near death, Uubu is visited by the spirit of Majin Buu. They merge, and Ultra Majin Uubu remembers ALL of the things that had happened in his previous life (in Dragon Ball Z). Uubu fights Vejiita-Baby, but his turn-people-into-food magic is reflected back at him. Uubu is turned into a chocolate bar, and eaten by Vejiita-Baby. Which is actually just a ploy. Vejiita-Baby spits Uubu back out later. Ultra Majin Uubu becomes a permanent character in the series. [fa:e33] |
Golden Oozaru Gokuu | Gokuu had been rescued from purgatory, and taken to Dai Kaiou-shin's planet by Kaiou-bit. There, Dai Kaiou-shin, Kaiou-bit, and Suguro use a giant pliers to pull Gokuu's tail back outside of his body. Gokuu has Kaiou-bit teleport him to New Plant, and loses his fight against Vejiita-Baby (even with the tail, Gokuu is not able to generate enough strength to fight in SSJ3 mode for very long.) But, he sees the light of the full Earth above him, and he turns into a giant golden were-monkey. In this mode, he has the ability to breathe fire and create volcanos. [fa:e33] |
Super Gokuu 4 | In the TV series, this is called SSJ4. However, V-Jump magazine claims to have inside information that the Super Gokuu 4 form is completely different from the SSJ sequence. Super Gokuu 4 is triggered when Golden Oozaro Gokuu stares at the Earth and gets frustrated at not being able to reach it from Planet Plant. He is a black haired man with lots of muscles, and is covered in red fur. His eyes are also lined in red. He is now stronger than Vejiita-Baby, and even more arrogant. He is also capable of firing off a "Times 10 Kamehame-ha." [fa:e34] |
| Golden Oozaru Vejiita-Baby | Before Gokuu can kill Vejiita-Baby, Bulma uses her satellite dishes to collect the light of the full Earth, and beam the concentrated energy (1000 times normal) at him. Even though he doesn't have a tail, Vejiita-Baby can use the concentrated light to turn into a were-monkey, AND to recover his strength when he gets badly hurt. In the were-monkey form, the Vejiita part is prone to great rages, and dealing out destruction. The Baby part is capable of intelligent thought. Were-monkey Vejiita-Baby has access to all of Vejiita's attacks, but at a much higher power level. [fa:e35] [la:e39] |
| Restored Saiya-jin | Kaiou-bit teleports to Dende's palace, and finds the Chou-sui (magic water) that supposedly had been at the top of Karin's tower back when Gokuu was fighting Red Ribbon. The true Chou-sui water is capable of cleansing the evil from people. Kaiou-bit uses it on Dende, Poppo, and Trunks in episode 37. It is used on Goten and Gohan in episode 38. When cleansed, that person can not remember ANYTHING that had happened while they were possessed by Baby. In effect, the cleansed person is just like he had been before being possessed. |
| Dead Piccolo |
When Gohan-Baby fought Piccolo, it looked like Piccolo had been killed.
In fact, Piccolo was wounded REALLY BAD. In episode 40, Piccolo is shown
at the core of the Earth; he dies for real when the Earth explodes.
Piccolo states that he has no choice; if he dies, the Ultimate Dragon
Balls can not be used ever again. In episode 44, Piccolo reappears in Heaven. He causes lots of damage there, to convince Dai Enmaoh to send him to Hell. In Hell, Piccolo and Dende use a form of "Fusion of the Heart" to open up a bridge between Hell and Earth, allowing Gokuu to escape from Hell and return to Earth to fight Super #17. |

Dr. Gero Dr. Myuu Cell Freeza A new storyline starts with episode 42. Dr. Gero and Dr. Myuu have both been condemned to Hell. They decide to team up to create a way to escape Hell, and get revenge on Gokuu. They start by upgrading Cell and Freeza, and creating a brand new android: New #17. New #17 and the original #17 are linked, and they have the power to open a bridge between Hell and Earth. [fa:e42] Dr. Gero is killed by Super #17 in episode 45. Dr. Myuu is killed by Super #17 in episode 47. Cell and Freeza are undying while they are in Hell, but they do get defeated by Gokuu. [la:e45]. |
New #17 | The android created by Dr.'s Gero and Myuu looks exactly like the old #17, but without the trench coat. New #17 is mentally linked to the old #17, and is designed to merge with his counterpart. Plus, Dr. Myuu secretly used Machine Mutant technology, to ensure that he can control #17 against Dr. Gero. [fa:e42] New #17 fuses with old #17 in episode 44. |
Super #17 | AKA: Hell's Fighter #17. When the new and old #17's merge, they turn into the ultimate android. Super #17 is taller, leaner, and has longer hair. He can take on all of the Z-Fighters at once, and has a special energy attack that looks like a fireworks fountain. He also has the ability to suck the energy from his enemies, just like the old androids #19 and #20 did. [fa:e44] Killed by Gokuu and #18. [la:e47] |

Evil Shenlon (AKA, "Kokuen no Ryuu")![[Main Evil Dragon]](dbgt/evildrag.jpg) | With the defeat of Super #17, #18 asks Gokuu to use the Dragon Balls to summon Shenlon, and wish for Kuririn to be resurrected again. However, everytime a wish had been made, "plus" energy had been used and "minus" had accumulated in the Dragon Balls. Finally, the Balls crack, letting out all that minus energy. The result is the appearance of an older, uglier, cigar-smoking Evil Shenlon -- Aka Kokuen no Ryuu (Black Smoke Dragon). This marks the beginning of the Evil Dragons storyline. Kokuen swallows the Dragon Balls, and then spits out 7 evil dragons that fly off in separate directions. Each dragon must be defeated so that the Balls can repair themselves and return to normal. Ryan-Shinlon (AKA, "2-Star Dragon")![[Ryan-Shinlon]](dbgt/ryan.jpg) | The first evil dragon to confront Gokuu and Pan, and the one associated with the 2-Star Dragon Ball (located in its forehead.) Ryan-Shinlon is an ugly, frog-like creature with horns on its head. Ryan-Shinlon has control over water, which it pollutes. The minus energy from the polluted water drains energy from Gokuu and Pan, and helps make Ryan-Shinlon stronger. Ryan is defeated by the twin energy attacks from Gokuu and Pan. [fa:e48] [la:e49] |
Uu-Shinlon (AKA, "5-Star Dragon")![[Uu-Shinlon]](dbgt/uu.jpg) | The second evil dragon to confront Gokuu and Pan, and the one associated with the 5-Star Dragon Ball (located in its stomach). Uu-Shinlon is kind of a rubber-based thing with a bird's beak. It is capable of becoming REALLY BIG, has control over electricity/lightning, and is immune to Gokuu's 10x's Kamehame-ha. [oa:e50] |
Ryuu-Shinlon (AKA, "6-Star Dragon")![[Ryuu-Shinlon]](dbgt/ryuu.jpg) | The third evil dragon to confront Gokuu and Pan, and the one associated with the 6-Star Dragon Ball (located in its chin.) Ryuu-Shinlon is a black-skinned winged demon, and has the ability to shape-change by spinning so fast that it bends light (it prefers to look like a pretty young princess.) Ryuu can spin very fast to create tornados, and to protect itself with a barrier of wind. [oa:e51] |
| Bisshu | A young boy that lives in a fishing village. Bisshu has blond hair, and a pet seagull named "Gull". He becomes interested in Pan during the battle against Ryuu-Shinlon, and asks Pan to visit him after her quest is completed. Bisshu appears to be the closest Pan will ever get to having a boyfriend. Chii-Shinlon (AKA, "7-Star Dragon")![[Chii-Shinlon]](dbgt/chii.jpg) | The fourth evil dragon to confront Gokuu and Pan, and the one associated with the 7-Star Dragon Ball. Chii-Shinlon can possess other creatures (it first appears as a giant mole; later it absorbs Pan to become a two-tailed dragon with a mole's nose) and can create earthquakes. Its true form is that of a 2-foot tall tan mole with the Dragon Ball located in the top of its head. [fa:e52] [la:e53] |
Suu-Shinlon (AKA, "4-Star Dragon")![[Suu-Shinlon]](dbgt/suu.jpg) ![[True Suu-Shinlon]](dbgt/san.jpg) | The fifth evil dragon to confront Gokuu and Pan, and the one associated with the 4-Star Dragon Ball. The 4-Star Ball is the one that Gokuu believes contains the soul of his dead foster grandfather, Old Son Gohan. Suu-Shinlon has control over light, and can effectively turn into a small sun. It also likes fighting fairly with Gokuu. Initially, Suu looks like a red clay gargoyle. In fact, in its true form, Suu is more golden in color. [fa:e54] [la:e57] |
| San-Shinlon (AKA, "3-Star Dragon") | The sixth evil dragon to confront Gokuu and the one associated with the 3-Star Dragon Ball. San-shinlon is Suu-shinlon's older brother, but the two of them don't seem to get along well together. San has control over ice, and looks like an ice blue version of Suu-shinlon. [fa:e54] [la:e57] |
Ii-Shinlon (AKA, "1-Star Dragon")![[Ii-Shinlon]](dbgt/ii.jpg) | The final evil dragon to confront Gokuu, the one associated with the 1-Star Dragon Ball, and has control over the Dragon Balls. He is white, with black spikes coming from his face. [fa:e57] |
| Immega eps. 3 - 4 |
A planet of shopkeepers, where getting money is everything. Ruled by
Don Kiaa. This is where Gokuu and friends locate Gill. Immega is a play on "gametsui", slang for a money-grubbing merchant. |
| Monmaasu ep. 6 |
The second planet on the quest, Monmaasu is populated by giagantic
animals, insects, and plants. A giant humanoid gets one of the Dragon
Balls stuck in a cavity in its tooth, and Gokuu must use Kamehame-ha to
blow the tooth out of the giant's mouth. Monmaasu is a scrambling of the English word "mammoth" (meaning "huge"). (Note that in the Perfect File, the explanation for the pun gives the the planet's name as "Monmaasu". But in the encyclopedia section at the back of the book, the name is mistakenly spelled "Manmousu".) |
| Kerubo eps. 7 - 8 |
Kerubo is where Zuunama rules, and Trunks dresses up as a woman to
pretend to marry Zuunama. Eventually, the mountain that Zuunama lives
in goes volcanic. Kerubo is a scrambling of "volcano". |
| Biihe eps. 9 - 10 |
When the Parapara Brothers decide to lose Gokuu and friends in a trap
planet, they choose Biihe. Biihe is a honeycomb of an asteroid, with
many snake-like worms (Muuma) that try to eat the heroes. Biihe is a play on "hebi" (snake). |
| Planet Ruudo eps. 11 - 14 |
Ruudo is where we meet Doll-tackii, Mutchii Motchii, Dr. Myuu, Shogun
Rirudo, and of course, the Machine Mutant Ruudo. Because everyone gets turned into dolls (doru), Ruudo is a play on "doll". |
| Ruudeze ep. 15 |
The desert planet where Pan decides to go truant. Ruudeze is a play on "deruze", or "run away from home". |
| M2 |
A planet populated by Machine Mutants, and home to Rirudo and
Gill. M2 = Machine Mutant. |
| Pital |
The hospital planet that the heroes visit to help save the alien boy
they found in a spacewrecked ship. The boy of course turns out to be
possessed by Baby. Pital comes from "Hospital". |
| Miscellaneous eps. 25 - 27 | The other planets that have Dragon Balls are known as "The Giant Tiger Planet", "The Dinosaur Planet", and "The Refrigerator Planet". These are not offical names of these planets, but merely the way that the animators referred to them based on what was on the planet. |
| Suu-guroku Kukan eps. 30 - 31 |
Just before Vejiita-Baby's Revenge Death Ball could kill Gokuu,
Kaiou-bit teleported in and rescued the boy. However, the force from the
RDB interferred with the teleport, and Kaiou-bit lost Gokuu in a
purgatory that even Dai Kaiou-shin could not deal with. This purgatory
turns out to be Suu-guroku Kukan (kukan translates as "section",
but in this case can be treated as "Hall.") Suu-guroku is a play on the Japanese board game called "suguroku". Players take turns rolling dice and trying to be the first ones to reach the goal, while avoiding various bad squares along the way. |
| New Plant eps. 33 - 39 |
Vejiita-Baby wishes for Shenlon to create a planet that was just like
the one destroyed by the Saiya-jin, but without the people. Bulma is
commanded to create a spaceship to transport some of the New Tsufuru-jin
to the new planet. [fa:e30] Saiya is a scrambling of "yasai", or vegetable. The Saiya-jins' ancient enemy are the Tsufuru-jin. (A play on Fruits.) So, the home planet for the Tsufuru-jin is the English word "Plant". |
