Volume 6 Summary

Chapter 13 Kaitte Kita Futatsu no Kakutantou
Return of the Two Nuclear Warheads

(This chapter is based on "Captured's Understanding" and is a continuation of the gags from that chapter.)

Moonsault is relaxing in the onsen where Cap had relaxed after the battle with Full Nelson; she is feeling better although her fingers still tingle where they'd been reattached. Camel enters the onsen carrying a battle mace, offering to "scrub Moonsault's back" with it. Manji and Camel are both upset that Moonsault has yet to thank them for saving her. Moonsault does so (Plancha worries that her mistress has changed so much) by saying "thanks for being stupid, fatty" (Plancha is relieved that her mistress hasn't changed at all. Cap runs in to ask for Manji's help -- his "Envandelion" (a play on Evangelion) doll is missing its right arm (Manji had been playing with it before.) Camel wants Cap to say something about the evil woman's accompanying them on the ship, but the boy doesn't care either way, as long as he can play with his action figure. Moonsault comes very close to thanking Cap for his help, but fails. Camel yells at Moonsault for this, and Cap tells her to shut up. Camel crawls away to pout.

Manji realizes that having Moonsault stick with them means having one more person to fight against the Mother Guard. He is looking forward to things calming down on the ship, but Moonsault is starting to flirt with Cap, so Camel and Moonsault start brawling again. This reminds Manji that the blimp is parked just outside the onsen and is in danger if the two woman fight full-out (he believes that "X-Day" will come, and the blimp will be destroyed again.) Manji attempts to get Cap to make the women stop fighting, and accidentally steps on the missing doll arm. Cap crawls away in shock, Manji yells out "Oh no, it's X-Day!!!" The girls go ballistic, and the onsen explodes, taking the blimp with it.

Chapter 14 Sentaku (Parts 1 - 4)
Selections

Various bounty hunters and other scum have started declaring war on everyone that has ever met or talked with Captured and Manji. The guy that sold the information concerning Standpeed wants to know what he has done wrong; Shouda and Tope (two of the children that Cap had saved) are being chased; and Face is getting her clothes ripped to shreds. Meanwhile, Cap is happily fighting various monsters. Manji gets a call on his cell phone, and he immediately starts yelling that they can return to Earth now -- they've raised enough money from the gem taken from Full Nelson to have the warp ship completed. Cap doesn't care; Manji can go alone if he wants. Manji argues with Cap, saying that the remaining Three Saints are the big enemies and will never rest as long as Cap stays in this universe. Cap had lost part of his hand to Full Nelson, and Somersault had nearly killed Moonsault; Avalanche is a 40-meter tall giant, and Splash is probably this universe's greatest fighter (Cap claims that HE is this universe's greatest fighter.) Moonsault agrees with Manji that Cap doesn't stand a chance against Splash.

Manji says that the warp ship is only 3 kilometers away, and Cap's answer is "Be careful getting there." Manji runs to the warp ship on his own. He pulls out a locket with a beautiful woman's picture inside. He tells "Suither" (Cap's mother) that he'll keep his promise to her -- that no one will kill Cap, and that the boy will reach Earth safely. Elsewhere, some "black priests" have located Shouda and Tope. The two boys are to be punished for wanting to play with Cap; Tope wants to run away, but Shouda stands his ground. One priest uses a giant claw to impale Shouda, and the blood splashes onto Tope. In another city, buildings explode as Face tries to outrun several giants.

In a field, Camel asks if Cap really doesn't want to go to Earth. Suddenly, dead flowers come to life, the grass starts growing, and flowers bloom. Cap looks up and discovers that the reason is that Splash is standing at the edge of the field. Splash introduces himself, and Cap immediately thinks that the Saint is there to fight him and end everything quickly. Splash cries instead, saying that Cap's plight is such a sad one. Cap wants to know the meaning of that, still convinced that Splash is here to fight. Actually, Splash has come to give Cap one last chance. If Cap commits suicide, Splash will call off the orders to have all of the other innocent people murdered. Cap launches himself at Splash and slashes away with his sword; Splash merely steps out of the way of the blade. Cap keeps trying to fight and Splash virtually ignores him. Splash asks again for Cap to commit suicide, and the boy refuses

At the hanger, Manji sees that his dream has almost come true and he can now return home. The mechanic that built the ship just wants his money and for Manji to leave quickly. Manji doesn't understand why, and Crowbar explains that the slaughter of anyone that comes into contact with the Earthlings has begun. Manji realizes that there's a lot of children that are in danger, and he runs off.

Splash is disappointed that Cap won't accept this chance, and his right fingertip begins to glow. Cap rushes up with General, Splash stops the blade with his bare left hand, and taps Cap's chest with his right finger. Cap flies through the air and smashes into a pile of rocks. Cap passes out. When he comes to again, he rages that Splash had cowardly run away. Manji shows up, his body and face covered in cuts. Manji says that they are going to Earth NOW, and Cap still objects. Manji adds that the slaughter has commenced, and Tope and Shouda are two of the victims. Cap goes into shock, and Camel looks horrified. They go a cabin nearby. Fortunately, Shouda survived. Tope comes out of the cabin, his arm in a sling. Tope says that this is all because of Cap.

Cap sadly apologizes, and Manji tells him that the slaughter will probably stop if they leave the Land Star universe now. Cap asks where Shouda is, and Tope answers that he's in the cabin, but does not want to see Cap now. Cap claims to understand; Camel is in tears over Cap's situation, and Moonsault is wondering at the feelings she's having herself. Shouda yells out that Cap has it wrong and it's ok to come inside. Shouda is all beaten up, and is on an IV drip. He looks like hell, and didn't want Cap to see him this way and worry too much. Shouda apologizes -- it's his own fault for not being able to run faster. Cap apologizes to the boy, and tells Manji that he'll go to Earth now.

On a cliff beside the ocean, Cap and Manji stand beside a simple cross that marks the grave of Suither. Manji explains his promise to Cap, and adds that this way Suither will be able to rest assured that Cap will be safe. Later, Camel runs up and tries to cheer Cap by asking if Earth has good food and so on, as well as mentioning that there are lots of terrorists and other evil people for Cap to beat up. Cap tells her that it's all right, he won't stay here any longer, and Camel looks at him sadly. Cap tells her about how Manji and Suither had gotten together -- the story about Manji gaining another treasure, but receiving several arrows in the back as well. Manji had made it to a fantastic estate, where Suither had found him half-dead (she stuck a knife in his neck to see if he'd react.) She gave Manji some water, and he fell in love with her. But, Suither feared humans, and didn't like fat men. So, Manji had to work to win her over, finally saving her from a monster. Suither gave in and agreed to marry Manji (Manji burst into tears of joy, and ruined his clothing.) Soon after, Cap was born. Three years later, Suither became sick and died.

Cap continues, saying that the cross had been erected by Mother (he says "North Mother", implying either that Mother lives in the North, or that there is more than one Mother.) According to what Manji had told him, Mother is not such a bad person. Cap realizes that the only bad person here is Cap himself -- by his mere existence, other people are made to suffer. Camel yells out that Cap is NOT evil. Cap thanks her for saying so, but isn't convinced. Camel repeats that Cap is NOT evil.

At the warp ship, Manji is warming up the jump engines (it's a really cool little thing with metal bird wings, and lots of sharp corners and lines.) Face arrives, saying that the time has come, huh? Face's clothes are in shreds, and she blames Manji for this. Manji apologizes, and she answers that she's joking. In her line of work, she expects trouble. Manji asks if she is ok, and Face replies that she's fine, except for having been raped by 5 men (she's joking again.) Face asks if Manji is returning to Earth now, and if he's had "that" conversation with Cap. Manji realizes what "that" is, as Cap and Camel arrive. Cap calls Face "Gramma Face", and she beats him up, saying she's only 28. Manji tells Cap to take Camel and go get 20 animals for food.

Cap kills 4 beasts which seem to be big enough for everyone to eat. Camel asks if Cap remembers anything about Suither. The boy answers that he only remembers feeling safe when she held him, and that there was a nice smell. Cap goes back to the cabin near the ship to ask if 4 beasts will be enough, and he overhears Face talking about "that" with Manji. "That" is the fact that Manji himself had put up the cross on the grave, and Suither did not die of an illness, she had been murdered by North Mother. Cap steps forward, asks what this means, and slams Manji into the wall. Cap realizes that Manji had lied to him to prevent him from confronting Mother directly. Manji is a coward, and Cap refuses to ever see him again. He runs away, vowing revenge for the death of his gentle mother.

Elsewhere, Steiner finishes off some monsters of her own. Franken complains about being included in the group of people that Splash has ordered killed. (Franken has gotten very beaten up, and Steiner has to add more bandages to him. He looks like a mummy. Steiner, however, is in perfect shape.) She hopes that Captured can do what she can't -- change the universe into a better place. Meanwhile, some brigands are threatening Cap, and he tells them to leave him alone -- he's in a hurry to go kill Mother. The brigands dislike this kind of "joke" and attack. Cap kills them very quickly. Face tells Manji that it's better this way, that Cap knows what he is fighting for. Manji screams back that it doesn't matter what Caps knows; he's going to get killed. Face looks very surprised.

Camel meets up with Captured and asks if he's really going to fight Mother. Cap just looks listless, and Camel says that he will die then. Cap doesn't plan on dying. Then, Camel asks him to go to Earth with her, but the boy repeats that he's going to defeat Mother. Camel responds with "You're going to die." They repeat this exchange as Camel cries, and Cap decides to keep walking. Suddenly, Cap hugs Camel from behind, and thanks her for liking a dark-haired person like him. Later, they find an airplane that they can use to fly north. Camel thinks to herself that she has something unspeakable that she has to tell Cap.

Chapter 15 Kyameru to kyapuchuudo (Parts 1 - 2)
Camel and Captured

The plane flies under auto-pilot. Camel asks Cap if he'd like to take a shower with her. The boy reacts in horror, and Camel says that's not what she meant. They'd worked up a sweat in the last battle, and they should both have showers, but not together. Cap says that he should get the bed ready then, and Camel shrieks. Cap panics and says that he plans on sleeping early to prepare for the next day's fight. Camel finishes her shower, thinking about the thing she can't tell Cap. And, in his lab, Dr. Bomb is watching Camel on a big screen TV. He claims to have all the data on Cap that he needs now, and soon the universe will be his.

Captured gets out of his shower to find that Camel had prepared a big meal for him (hamburgers, soup, and Cap's favorite -- strawberry shortcake.) Cap goes ape over the food, but agonizes whether to eat the cake first, or keep it until last (he decides that the best things should be kept until the end.) As Cap eats, Camel stares at him and keeps repeating that she likes him. Cap doesn't want her to say strange things like that while he's trying to eat. While, in some ruins, Moonsault is thinking about what she's seen on her computer. Plancha arrives with lunch, and Moonsault apologizes for her past behavior. Plancha panics and hides behind a tree, asking if her mistress has a fever. Moonsault says that she's had a weird feeling in her chest ever since she'd been rescued by Cap. According to her computer, Moonsault is feeling "anxiety" over Captured.

Camel wants to take the airplane to some little Land Star, start up a farm, and forget all about Mother. Cap can't do that. Even though Camel is very important to him, his mother was even more so. Camel is about to cry again, then laughs, says that's what men are all like, and announces that they won't talk about stuff like this anymore. Cap finishes eating, and says that they'll forget about talking about bad things now. Camel tells the boy that he has some food on his face, and uses this as an excuse to kiss him on the lips. Cap panics, and Camel asks him to do her a favor (they are on the mattress on the bed now, and Camel looks like she wants to have sex), causing Cap to object strenuously. But, Camel just wants to hook little fingers together to make a promise (in Japan, children seal a promise by hooking their little fingers, and chanting that if they break the promise they will swallow 1000 needles.) Camel asks Cap to believe her, no matter what she says. Cap agrees, and they make the chant. Camel looks very vulnerable as she reminds Cap that this is a promise. Then, they go to bed. Camel sleeps easily, while Cap is like a wired bomb ready to go off, obsessed with thoughts of the kiss he'd gotten, completely unable to sleep.

The airplane arrives at Spine, the Land Star where North Mother lives. Spine is a high-tech planet, encircled by a space station (it floats over the planet looking like one of the rings of Saturn.) Captured is dreaming that his parents have left him, and that the Land Star kids are beating him up. Camel comes to save him, he takes a shower, gets out of the shower and eats the meal that Camel had made for him the previous evening. When he looks up from the food, Camel is gone.

Cap wakes up, and Camel is not in the room. He starts to panic, then Camel comes out of the toilet. Cap mentions that he'd had a strange dream because of the food last night, and Camel gets ready to hit him if he complains about her cooking. Camel then prepares to tell Cap one last thing before they set down on Spine to face Mother. But, before she can continue, several missiles hit the plane and they crash land. One of Dr. Bomb's robots thinks that the kids were killed, but Bomb knows better (the good doctor has two gash-like scars on the top of his head, from when he last faced Cap.) Cap had fallen on a rock slab, and Camel had landed on his back. Nearby, a huge TV screen floats in the air. On the screen is an image of Camel, saying that Cap can't go any further.

Dr. Bomb arrives to explain. He welcomes Camel back home, and calls her "North Mother's Legitimate Heir" (that is, the successor to North Mother's throne.)

Cap goes into shock and Bomb continues. In 108 days, Camel will take Mother's place. The reason she'd been with Cap for the last 3 years was to gather all the data possible on Captured so that they could defeat him. Cap thinks this is all a big trick, except that Camel isn't denying any of it. On the screen, Camel is shown reporting in on the condition of Tope and Shouda, and Cap's plans to return to Earth. Camel is looking really guilty, and she apologizes to Cap.

Captured acts like he'd been hit by a bomb, says "That was a dirty trick, Princess-Sama; for a full 3 years...", and runs away. Camel tries to get Captured to listen to her explanation, but Dr. Bomb has one of his robots grab Camel "to keep her from harm." Cap reaches some ruins and thinks that he's all alone now. He remembers all of the best times that he'd had with Camel, telling himself that it was just her way of getting data on him. He cries as he looks at the horizon, wondering if there's any purpose to killing Mother now.

Camel tries to get free of the robot, to talk to Cap. Dr. Bomb leers at her, calling her his puppet.
