Introduction

Dark Hair Captured is a very silly manga created by Ryuusuke Mita, and serialized in the Japanese Comic Dragon magazine. Comic Dragon is a monthly manga collection along the lines of Shonen Jump. Unlike its sister publication Dragon magazine, Comic Dragon doesn't have feature articles on its artists or stories, so there is no character guide in Japanese that I know of.

This file is aimed at creating new fans for Dark Hair Captured, Mita's best manga so far. It also contains something of a story summary because there's lots of good stuff that happens in this manga.

Dark Hair Captured wrapped up its run in Comic Dragon, as of June, 1997. Volume 7, the final book, was published Sept., 1997. Publication dates and ISBN numbers appear at the end of this file (the books have been coming out about twice a year.)

COMMENTS

The artwork is very similar to that in the later volumes of Dragon Half. That is, the character designs are sharp and pointy when drawn realistically, and the women all have wasp-waists and huge hips. But, the designs often become super-deformed for comic effect.

Dark Hair Captured is a sword-and-sorcery style manga, with lots of monsters, dungeons, and weapons floating about. However, there is also a fair amount of technology and references to modern Earth.

Overall, I like this manga a lot, and recommend it highly to anyone that likes Dragon Half, or D&D stories in general.
